Elena Talavera/Antonio Farre have been Shortlisted for Luxury Residence – Global Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2020.
Casa Lluvia, located in Mexico City, is a majestic house that balances impressive modern Mexican architecture and harmonious yet elegant interiors. The property has luxurious design features flowing throughout both the exterior and interior of the project.
Casa Lluvia oozes exquisite elegance, finesse and sophistication, which is then combined with the peace and beauty of nature of the surroundings. The light and shadows contrast beautifully and invites you to tour each space as if it was an art gallery and to discover each of its pieces. Mexican roots and avant-garde style merge in a balanced and yet eclectic way, resulting in a splendid quality design, which is both clean and timeless. The design also aims to avoid the use of columns as much as possible, resulting in more space in the interior, whilst it combines different impact elements such as quarry stone and crystal, a grand entrance with an historical door (500 years-old) and a glass bridge with state-of-the-art structural technology. Specialist artisan skills where used in the project, with the team hiring quarry and iron workers, adding a further unique touch. The team also worked with architect Antonio Farre, whom they said it was a privilege to work with on the project.
The interior design pieces were curated in such a way that every single one is a beautifully, interesting sculpture in itself. The colours were softly combined with the yellow quarry stone and lamps were carefully selected to return human scale to every space. The design team have been able to create a balance of harmony and warmth which plays a key aesthetic role throughout the property. The design works so well because of the fusion of the masculine and feminine perspectives, the yin and yang forces.
Casa LLUVIA is a sublime work of architecture and interior design, not only limited to its visual aspect, but also one that creates an exceptional experience for the people who live there and its visitors, who enjoy a warm, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
design et al only work with the world’s leading designers.
