design et al are please to announce the shortlist for EXITDESIGN for the Living Space – Europe Award in the International Design & Architecture Awards 2015.
This dark apartment with art deco detailing was designed for a young businessman which provides fully automated features. This property is located within a building previously used as a public swimming pool, which has now been transformed into luxury apartments. This previous public swimming pool building had very small existing windows, and in some areas none at all thus making this space very dark. The client decided to fully rebuild this space to add many huge windows and demolished many of the walls.
The apartment features dark materials, however the space was the most important issue for the client. The styling of this dark interior comes from luxury and noble materials connected with colorful modern art. The walls are finished with silk wallpaper or high gloss walnut panels, and the soft furniture is covered with alcantara or leather. In the niche area there stands two twin chromed sculptures. ART DECO can be found throughout the detailing within this beautiful apartment.
The whole space has been split into two areas – these being daily and private night area. The living area along with the entrance hall, dining room and kitchen provide the daily spaces.
