design et al are delighted to announce that Fenton Whelan Design Limited have been shortlisted for Residential £20 Million Plus (Project by Value) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
Greybrook House is a Grade II listed, Art Deco building located in the heart of Mayfair. Designed by Sir John Burnett in 1929 for Bechstein’s London showroom, the building has been completely refurbished into 4 residences, including the 4,599 sq. ft., five bedroomed duplex penthouse with full-floor 1,216 sq. ft. roof terrace.
For the duplex penthouse, Fenton Whelan Design Limited were required to combine Art Deco style with contemporary living, introducing custom distinguished furnishings with bespoke joinery, natural stone and subtle lighting. Every material has been selected to fuse harmoniously with the Mayfair location and the Art Deco style. The beauty and elegance of the building exterior has been allowed to flow throughout the buildings’ residences.
Bronze entry double doors from Brook Street, lead to a distinctively marble floored, double height lobby with direct elevator access to the duplex penthouse. The marquee residence is comprised of five bedrooms at the fourth floor, living spaces at the fifth floor with a landscaped roof terrace.
All bedrooms are en-suite with individual dressing rooms. The master suite features Art Deco furniture, custom gold woven carpeting and antique gold trim to joinery. The main living space on the 5th floor is subtly divided by a floating smoked-glass fireplace and opens to a substantial South-facing terrace with 10.5-foot ceilings. The penthouse at Greybrook features a unique Bulthaup kitchen & breakfast room featuring Bianco Perlino marble floors and an expansive upholstered Banquette style seating area.
Fenton Whelan Design Limited believe that the Greybrook penthouse sets a new standard for exceptional residential design in London and each residence throughout is individually complemented with intricately detailed joinery and light fixtures, adding to its distinctive glamour. Each piece is a work of art in its own right.
