Finite Solutions have reached the short list again in the Home Cinema category of the International Design & Architecture Awards 2013.
The design brief for this Liverpool Cinema was for a comfortable, yet high performance cinema room/snug with damage proof integration. The client wanted a media room in which they could enjoy films together, but also play Nintendo Wii as a family. They also wanted their young children (7, and 12) to be able to use the room with their friends without any risk of equipment getting broken. They had an existing TV room but wanted something a little more special, Audio and Video quality was paramount. The room was not huge, so the client wanted to make the most use of the space with informal seating to create a warm, relaxing and adaptable environment. The client gave free reign to come up with a number of designs but wanted to sign off 3D designs before any building work took place.
The client was concerned about noise from the cinema affecting adjoining rooms so sound proofing was essential. They also wanted to keep the amount of technology on show to a minimum and desired a very contemporary styled room.
The room was also to be used as a chill out area for reading and relaxing when the screen was turned off. The client wanted all the technology in the room (including the lighting and window treatments) to be accessible from a single, simple to use remote control.
