design et al are delighted to announce Firmdale have been successfully shortlisted for the Living Space -U.K. Category at this year’s International Design and Architecture Awards. The Terrace at Ham Yard is located within London’s thriving SoHo district and showcases the firm’s specialist design service with finesse.
A beautifully coloured suite-style residence, embellished with chic, fashionable interiors and benefiting from a wealth of natural sunlight via floor-to-ceiling windows and a stunning terrace area. The residence benefits from views of a quaint courtyard and the iconic London skyline. The accommodation comprises two individually designed double bedrooms with a spacious living room space and kitchen featuring bespoke designed fabrics throughout.
The design brief called for a comfortable and contemporary design. A range of blue hues were utilised to form the foundation of the palette with injection of white, fuchsia and purple tones bringing the room to life with zest and gusto. The design incorporated functional elements such as free-standing furniture which could be moved from room to room if required. The rooms are filled with lots of natural light streaming in from the floor to ceiling Crittal windows and a narrow, long balcony provides outdoor space to enjoy the city’s stunning views.
The living area is central to the design with the bedrooms forming the top and tail of the space. Double doors to each area provide the illusion of greater space and expertly frame the room for artistic effect. Light wide oak floorboards and individually designed rugs compliment the scheme whilst providing tactile textures upon hard surfaces to maintain the comfortable, homely ambiance of the space. Each room has a very unique feel, quite different from the next but working well together. The design expertly marries masculine and feminine influences for a universally impressive design which works well in all seasons, settings and lights.
