Ancerl Studio have been shortlisted for Bathroom Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2020.
Dedicated to sophisticated living and vibrant entertainment, Forest Hill connects its inhabitants with its lush surroundings. It is an invitation to dream and live wild in Toronto’s most coveted Forest Hill area. Designed by multidisciplinary Ancerl Studio, this project exudes contemporary elegance balanced with a modernized industrial flair.
The exterior façade is defined by its contrasting volumes of glass, brick, and stone which welcomes guests as they permeate through the home’s protective layers in a curated journey through space. Ancerl Studio’s design works so well due to the beautiful juxtaposition between the industrial elements of the shell of the home, with the more refined finishes and furnishings that fill it. The carefully curated finishes are seen throughout the home for a serene and harmonised interior.
On the upper floor, the master suite is designed to deliver a haven of tranquillity and the freedom found in being suspended within treetops. The bedroom features calming warm textures and soft tones which are contrasted with black metal accents connecting to the elements and structural motifs in the residence.
The master bathroom has been designed by Ancerl Studio to inspire energising mornings and relaxing evenings. It offers a choice for the residence since the room is as closed or open as its users wish – free from inhibitions and unnecessary layers. The stunning loft windows provides a stunning connection to the home’s surroundings and views of the magical sunken rear garden.
Forest Hill’s surrounding neighbourhood boasts more traditional Tudor & Georgian style homes, using brick, stone, and limestone on their facades. Although Forest Hill has a more modern aesthetic, Ancerl Studio ensured that this home feels integrated into it’s surrounding by honouring those traditional materials seen throughout the neighbouring houses.
