design et al are delighted to announce that Hill House Interiors has been shortlisted for Bathroom Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
A sophisticated bathroom oasis in a palatial Virginia Water home, offering practicality as well as innovative design and finish.
Sourcing and combining a truly diverse and impressive breadth of luxurious, rich and beautifully textured materials for the brand new, contemporary master bathroom in a large family home on the Wentworth Estate, Hill House Interiors pushed the boundaries of luxury design with the project, elevating this envy-inducing home to extraordinary levels.
With Jerusalem crema grey marble flooring framing the expansive bathroom suite, the eye is immediately drawn to the dramatic silver travertine stone feature wall, offering a more natural and organic feel to the space. Horizontal apertures with discreet inset lighting show off the client’s ornamental items, including Chanel and Jo Malone lotions and potions, and create a warm glow within the spa-like bathroom, highlighting the beautiful multi-tones in this unique feature wall. A key element from the clients’ brief, an open plan, oversized rainfall shower room is entered behind the left hand side, while the separate enclosed WC sits to the right, complete with elegant Dornbracht sanitaryware.
Cocooned in nero absolute granite and featuring black bevelled glass, the oversized bathtub creates a bold statement in the spacious room, with the finish mirroring that of the adjacent dual wash basins and inbuilt dressing table. Creating the perfect space to relax, indulge and unwind from the pressures of everyday life. Elegant accessories decorate the bath edge, from fragrant candles and aromatherapy oils to a beautiful orchid.
Custom made Elitis textured wallpapers and window dressings soften the striking stonework, providing a wonderful contrast to the hard surfaces and creating a softer, more luxurious feel, while an astounding amount of innovative hidden storage behind the John Cullen lit vanity mirrors has been custom designed to the clients’ exact requirements.
Great lighting is key for any space, and the Hill House Interiors team introduced both atmospheric and task lighting into the ensuite – concealed lighting gives a soft glow, particularly at night, creating a sensual atmosphere. Meanwhile, eye level lighting on the vanity unit is essential for makeup application and shaving, as elegant Swarovski wall lighting completes the sophisticated space.
With the clients spending a significant amount of their time relaxing and unwinding in the calming in the master bedroom throughout the week, the brief for the brand new ensuite bathroom was to continue the harmonious feel, whilst designing a space that would be incredibly practical for everyday life.
