Honky Design

Congratulations to Honky Design who have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Europe Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019

design et al are delighted to announce that Honky Design has been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Europe Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.

As a destination development located in Jersey, it was Honky’s aim to ensure that the design fully reflected the exclusive lifestyle of its potential buyers whilst complementing the architecture of the building. The sophisticated style of the building is enhanced throughout with a minimal, contemporary approach, and a focus on making a statement. Accent colours throughout provide each space with its own personality, while maintaining an overall language within the home.

The development offers two very different designs, one being a relaxed countryside farmhouse and the other a modernist family home. The key to Honky’s brief was to distinguish between the two different styles of living and bring this to life through the design. The Honky Design team were able to create a luxury, yet relaxed design aesthetic by introducing a mix of pared back, minimal furniture with bold art and textures.

The living room, with its abundance of natural light enhanced by the double height ceiling is definitely one of the key aspects of this project, Honky Design have drawn attention to this with a striking feature pendant, contrasted with the low contemporary furniture. Another key aspect of the design was to integrate materials from the local area. Honky Design were inspired by Jersey stone, which naturally lends itself to a variety of colours and textures. The designers combined these to create a refined colour palette, that nods to Jerseys heritage yet implemented with a modern approach.

The interiors really hit the brief and the design successfully conveys the notion of a contemporary home that is still a family space. The blend of soft textures, natural materials and bespoke elements pull together to create a refined feeling of luxury that is still liveable.
