design et al are excited to announce that TANDEM have been successfully shortlisted in the Beach Hotel Category with Ko’a Kea Hotel & Resort in the International Hotel & Property Awards
A sophisticated luxury oceanfront boutique hotel with the essence of nature as inspiration.
The spectacular sunsets and beautiful surrounding beaches were where the drawing board began for this luxurious boutique property on Poipu Beach. The Ko’a Kea is an oceanfront hotel & resort, with its name meaning “white coral” nature was the true inspiration for the design- from the colours, to the textures, to the shapes. The 121 guest-rooms are the modern beach getaway; with subtle & sleek furnishings and crisp,fresh colours and each with remarkable views creates a retreat unlike any other- or a “little taste of heaven” as it has been described.
The marrying of the interior and exterior really brought these spaces to life. The fresh look of the rooms, while remaining subtle and modern, brought the beauty of Poipu Beach into each guest-room.
Through working with the entire team (owner, contractor, vendors), we were able to achieve a beautiful concept, and very cohesive design – as our philosophy at Tandem is: design is a product of minds working or occurring in conjunction with each other (IN TANDEM). It is this partnership of ideas from the client, the trades, the artisans and the designer that a creative vision is formed and realized.
We are very excited to be participating in the IH&P Awards for our first year, and really look forward to being a part of it.
