This open-concept home’s vast art collection influenced the cohesive, polished and modern design. It is sophisticated yet family-friendly. This Houston home is an art collectors dream. It has an amazing contemporary art collection that influenced the design process for this interior. Laura U Interior Design wanted to feature each piece as the star of the room. Through a collaborative process, the designers worked with the clients to create a timeless and family-friendly design that truly embodies liveable luxury and fulfilled their desire for an open-concept home.
Laura U Interior Design incorporated durable, and kid-friendly fabrics then meshed them with sophisticated designs to create a perfect balance of functionality and luxury. The mixture of bold, printed wall-coverings with crisp white walls throughout the interior served as gorgeous backdrops to the client’s curated art. Laura U Interior Design incorporated custom pieces, including the benches in foyer and family room, sectional in family room, dining chairs and barstools in kitchen. As well as the lacquered kitchen ceiling and vent hood, custom Urban Electric pendants and barstools and the custom-coloured shagreen wall-covering within the powder room.
Laura U Interior Design’s favourite aspects of the project are the great room’s open layout, high ceilings and bold, contemporary art which make this space the biggest statement within the home. Custom furnishings were designed by Laura U Interior Design with collaborations with House + Town, El Dorado Woodworks and Accents In Iron. The designers also collaborated with AER on the custom sitting room rug. The design is youthful, modern and sophisticated yet functional for a lively family of six. We incorporated tailored pieces with performance fabrics to create a design that embodied utmost luxury, while creating a gallery-like setting for their stunning art collection.
