design et al are delighted to announce that LEIVARS have been shortlisted for Bedroom Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
LEIVARS were asked to fully restore and highlight the original features of this property whilst also pushing it into the 21st century. The clients wanted to be wowed by colour and pattern, LEIVARS were able to experiment with bold papers and prints throughout the house. The original property suffered from poor natural light within the hallways and landings, the designers wanted to celebrate this and so the clients allowed them to paint the common part walls using squid ink and design a bespoke yellow tartan carpet. The idea behind this was that each bedroom door opened onto this contrast of dark moody walls with quirky items scattered such as unicorn heads and cages of curiosities which were family heirlooms.
The master bedroom suite is a celebration of bold pattern wallpaper, beautiful textures and rich tones with hints of brass to add warmth and reference to the landing and stair carpets. A mix of old Georgian antique pieces sit comfortable with interesting pieces of furniture from Julian Chichester, such as a curved chest of drawers to mirror the beautiful large bay window. The soft tones are carried from the bedroom and carefully lead the clients through to the master ensuite bathroom.
LEIVARS favourite aspect of this project is the impact that the bold patterned wallpaper has on the entire master suite. Chichester is set within the heart of the South Downs National Park and is minutes away from the Goodwood National park, the use of a bold country scene with trees is very much a reflection of the tree lined Georgian streets and beautiful surrounding countryside. The boldness of the walls combined with colour tones that lead and blend with each other, allow the warmth of the brass to dominate the room, highlighting countryside comfort with high end luxury.
