design et al are delighted to announce that Leivars has been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – UK Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
Leivars were enlisted for the interior design of this contemporary light flooded open plan family home. Clean lines and an abundance of colour and textures were incorporated to complement the extensive garden views.
Leivars were asked to create a contemporary design scheme that flowed throughout the house from room to room. The designs needed to have a cohesive flow of both colours and textures as the house has been designed for open plan living with over scaled pocket doors. Strong sight lines from room to room dictated the designer’s approach to all schemes.
The interiors needed to strike a balance of modern-day contemporary living, creating an entertaining space coupled with a welcoming family home with lots of space for two young children. Colours also needed to complement the ever-present garden views. Leivars utilised the wonderful ceiling heights to add large over scaled bold artwork to add pockets of interest from room to room and bring the schemes together by use of complementing and repetitive colour tones.
Leivars favourite aspect of this project was the space and volume of the property. The designers emphasised that it is always a dream working with great ceiling heights and great natural light, so Leivars utilised this as much as possible by simplifying the light fittings, so they became more sculptural and they also maximised the size of the artwork used wherever possible to add a striking impact to the interiors.
A wealth of grey and blue tones for the larger items of furniture were used to complement the London skyline and the natural garden elements which can be seen through the vast expanse of glass used throughout the house. A mix of brown tones working with the trees within the garden incorporate the natural elements outside. By adding strong punches of colour through both the accents and artwork allowed a good balance of calming overall room schemes with colour to add interest and depth to each space.
