LEIVARS

Congratulations to LEIVARS shortlisted for Living Space – Europe Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2018

design et al are delighted to announce that LEIVARS have been shortlisted for Living Space – Europe Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.

LEIVARS were instructed to design the interiors for a coastal penthouse development show apartment which overlooked Carlyon Bay, Cornwall. The brief for this project was to create a space with unique personality that would set the apartment aside from other local developers to attract potential buyers. The client wanted a look that was non-contrived and non-typical developer in style, something with a unique and intriguing personality.

LEIVARS created a boho coastal meets Ibiza cool, something colourful but not bold, relaxed with materials that give a faded vintage scorched feel. The designers wanted to evoke a feeling that would enable guests to go from city to beach and immediately feel a sense of relaxation with linens and soft textures. A mix of natural finishes and textures perfectly allows the gem of the view to be the key feature of this property, whilst also adding warmth by the use of soft coral and blue tones, which would add warmth on stormy winter coastal days. Images were also incorporated to reflect a gentle black and white tribal feel which would complement the bamboo and bleached wood tones.

The key aspect of this project for LEIVARS was the mix of textures used throughout the space which were incorporated to fit the brief. The designers believe that this project was so successful because it simply evokes a relaxed feel in an instant and complements the sea views so well. The interiors of this project perfectly integrate into the wider Cornwall environment, such as the coastal tones which reflect the Cornish sunrise and sunset, the warmth of orange and pinks with an array of blue tones that also work in harmony with the sea and sky.
