design et al are delighted to announce Liza Evans Interior Design have been shortlisted in the Home Cinema Category for this year’s International Design and Architecture Awards.
Liza Evans Interior Design were tasked with creating a cosy family cinema room, which could accommodate an overnight guest with sufficient space and privacy. The design brief requested the neglected ‘junk room’ be transformed into plush home cinema room where the whole family could enjoy a range of entertainment and spend quality time. The client requested that the room could be completely blacked out when being used for its main function, to provide an authentic an ‘at the cinema’ experience.
The design features a striking colour palette with bold contrasts across tones and texture. The use of rich, dense black and reds colour palettes gives a contemporary, artistic ambience whilst the balance of tactile textures help soften the look against the more solid, reflective surfaces of the display unit and cinema screen. The client’s brief gave the designer freedom to be flamboyant and bold in her selection of surfaces, fabrics and furniture which created a distinctive leisure space. There is a definite sense of glamour, luxury and high-definition design. The overall effect is one of impressive impact which pleases both parents and children whilst fulfilling the dual-requirements of the space.
