Congratulations to Meyer Davis who have been shortlisted for Restaurant Within a Hotel Award in The International Hotel & Property Awards 2017

design et al are delighted to announce that Meyer Davis have been shortlisted for Restaurant Within a Hotel Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2017.

Meyer Davis has created a quintessentially modern New York establishment that will sate the tastes of a sophisticated clientele. The Wayfarer design is a celebration of “old meets new.” Combining elements of grandeur and modern design, the main dining room upholds an aesthetic of warm modern opulence and pays homage to social clubs of time periods past. The main dining room is a glass-wrapped, light-filled room composed of a series of interconnected lounge areas full of rich leathers, dark woods and custom designed mid-century inspired chairs and modern lighting.IHPMeyerDavis_Wayferer_RestaurantWithinaHotel_ThumbnailStand out design features of The Wayfarer include a sumptuous custom made 1970s inspired serpentine banquette, a vintage theatre marquee ceiling and stylised graffiti. The mezzanine features a 20 foot pewter and glazed brick bar and intimate social area as well as three private dining rooms. An expertly stocked grand pewter bar is lined with textured bar stools that intimate bar-height dining banquettes. The bar boasts a display of fresh seafood and brass detailed shelving above. Central POS stations are well stocked with found curiosities. Each restroom is fitted with subway tiles, curved mirrors, and brass hardware.IHPMeyerDavis_Wayferer_RestaurantWithinaHotel_5Hanging from the stairwell is a larger than life graphic fabric curtain with a collage of contemporary art floating in front. This tongue in cheek salon-style collection is mimicked in the main dining room and upstairs lounge, where the artwork goes from bold and colourful, to clubby black and white shots. Upstairs, expert detailing can be found in custom tufted dining chairs with velvet patterned backs. Seating wraps around the walls and bar– a playful metal screen separates guests from a view over the edge of the stairwell where a focal design of a vintage theatre marquee. Neon signage floats in the windows, and retro spiked chandeliers hang from a cork ceiling in the private dining room. Illuminated wine cases line the hallway leading from front to back of the second floor. Combining the aesthetics of a 19th Century social club, a mid-century modern residence, and a 1970s lounge, the design aesthetic is unique for the area. It’s a rich and layered space with many details to delight guests, but allows for intimacy in seating so that any group can feel at home.IHPMeyerDavis_Wayferer_RestaurantWithinaHotel_3
