design et al are delighted to announce that Milc Property Stylists has been shortlisted for Living Space – UK Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
This project required an elegant and sophisticated full fit out of this blank canvas, a soft evolving colour palette evokes a sense of calm in this central London buzzing location. Hanway Gardens, situated in the heart of Fitzrovia, is an elegant and sophisticated development. The client wanted Milc Property Stylists to develop with them a brief that reflected this ethos and motion. With a considered approach, the designers worked closely to create a calming and serene atmosphere surrounded by the hub of a central and bustling London location.
Built for full-time occupation Milc Property Stylists took advantage of the high ceilings and large bay windows with abundance of light, where the finishes needed to be durable, yet inviting. The reception area focused on a singular patterned cushion, sourced by the client from the U.S. The designers sourced product and finishes from all over the globe alongside the use of pops of sage and subtle greens, that contrast with the darker Wenge finishes of the bespoke designed joinery. This bespoke joinery piece was designed to work both as a home for the television with relevant boxes, to also have a shelving display for Objet d’art featuring LED lighting and a subtle wallpapered backboard.
Pulling from many different design suppliers and inspirational imagery the walls are covered with buttermilk Farrow and Ball and subtle printed Textura wallpaper on two respective feature walls. The window treatments are an ode to tradition with blackout roman blinds and backing patterned translucent voiles, enough to give privacy to this street facing room whilst remaining design focused and featuring sophisticated and smart detailing in the hand-picked prominent border surround. Focusing around form and soft curvature, sculptural art is introduced across the wall space with the gilded sideboard and antique mirror wall making use of elegant antiqued materials.
As you move seamlessly through each space, you are re-connected via the reception-kitchen area, with direct access from each room, including glass-panelled partition doors. It was therefore incredibly important that the reception remained appealing to each area being constantly on view and to ensure this main scheme complimented each room. With a strong focus on individual British artisan pieces, the scheme was kept versatile, tactile and ever-inviting for today and many years that this apartment will be enjoyed for.
