design et al are delighted to announce that Morpheus London have been shortlisted for City Space (Apartment/Penthouse) – London Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
Morpheus London were enlisted for the interior design of a 3-bedroom penthouse show apartment within Chelsea Waterfront complete with study and a spectacular garden room on the top floor, which overlooks the river. The brief from Hutchinson was to design a show apartment that will offer something different and stand out from the existing show apartments. The colour palette should be light and neutral to lift and enhance the existing base specification, offering something original. Expanding on this, Morpheus London wanted to create a unique interior design that will attract a potential buyer and reflect the superlative quality expected of an apartment valued at £9m.
Morpheus London were asked by the client to create a design that was truly unique, and they believe they succeeded in doing so with the garden room: a space that embodies the concept of ‘bringing the outside in’. The room is an indoor extension of the outdoor terrace that can be enjoyed all the year round, offering residents and guests an idyllic vantage point for the city’s ever-changing skyline. Acting as a multi-function leisure and entertaining space, the garden room features two rope lounge beds bespoke designed by the Morpheus London team set against a green faux plant wall. These hanging beds flank a sweeping seating area perfect for relaxing and entertaining guests with the help of the custom-made bar. An outdoor rowing machine overlooking the Thames adds a sense of playfulness and is a subtle nod to the apartment’s riverside location.
The atmosphere of the space has been designed to feel lofty and elegant and has also been created to make the potential buyer walk in and really feel a sense of want and need. In designing a show apartment, Morpheus London have taken care to examine the demographic of the potential clientele and are mindful of the location too so there is a purpose to everything. Most of the furnishing items have been designed and manufactured specifically for the apartment, allowing for the fabrics, tones and scale of the furniture to be meticulously designed and selected to suit the needs of the apartment’s volume and spaces. The Morpheus London team worked with London based manufactures and artisans to ensure exacting qualities were met to meet the potential buyer’s needs. One-off furniture pieces that provide real talking points such as the dining room table with legs that mimic the industrial chimneys at the neighbouring Lots Road Power Station.
