MSMR Architects have reached the shortlist for the Residential Redevelopment/Renovation category in the International Hotel and Property Awards.

This penthouse encapsulates luxury central London lateral living and has the most spectacular panoramic views over Buckingham Palace Gardens and Westminster.  Originally two separate apartments, one on the 16th and one on the 17th floor of a typical 1960s apartment building in Victoria, central London, the design brief for MSMR Architects was to completely remodel, renovate and fit-out the combined apartments to create one luxurious contemporary penthouse.

Conceptually MSMR’s response to this project was to enhance the quality of the living spaces as much as possible and to create a dramatic entrance area that would act as a focal point for the penthouse.

A newly created curved staircase leads from the reception hall on the lower floor to the open-plan living and entertaining upper floor. The design impact of the stair is enhanced by careful integration of lighting to the stairwell, handrail and stair treads and risers.

Penthouses should be full of wow-factor and this duplex certainly delivers on both fronts providing the owners with open plan luxury living and amazing views of the London skyline.
