design et al are delighted to announce that Oakeve Interiors has been shortlisted for Kitchen Design Over £100,000 Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
Ellwood Grange is an imposing architectural Georgian masterpiece constructed to an exceptional specification with a sumptuous, state-of-the-art interior, of which the kitchen is an extravagantly-equipped and opulently-furnished, sociable heart of the home. The primary design goal for the homeowner was to design a contemporary, open-plan kitchen/breakfast area/family room that made an impressive visual statement, incorporating state-of-the-art appliances that would appeal to prospective purchasers and act as a key selling asset for the developer client.
Whilst the Kitchen design needed to provide the visual ‘wow’ factor, it was also of great importance that it was practical and ergonomically functional. Oakeve Interiors also had to provide sufficient storage space for a luxury six-bedroom residence and provide a thoughtful layout to ensure that the cooking and food preparation areas were well-connected with minimal working distances between them.
Lastly, it was anticipated that Ellwood Grange would be purchased by a family and thus the kitchen areas needed to provide the future homeowners with a fantastic entertaining space, suitable for all occasions. Whilst the room was transformed into a contemporary, open-plan living space, the homeowners were keen for there to be a clear demarcation of the different areas, providing various spaces for formal and informal entertaining, whilst maintaining an overriding seamless flow between the spaces.
In order to successfully achieve the different strands of this brief, Oakeve Interiors ensured the highest quality of craftsmanship and resources were brought together with meticulous attention-to-detail and carefully considered spatial planning. Bespoke furniture and cabinetry were designed specifically for the Ellwood Grange, ensuring design continuity throughout the kitchen areas, which when used in conjunction with a complementary colour palette, resulted in a holistic, comprehensive and thoughtful scheme. Designed with intelligent room flow that maximised the available natural light and dressed with on-trend, tactile fabrics and finishes, Ellwood Grange engendered comfort and maximised owner well-being.
