A.RK Interior Design Pte Ltd have been shortlisted for Hotel Over 200 Rooms – Asia Pacific Award in The international Hotel and Property Awards 2020.
Orchard Grand Court – a 180-room hotel located near the shopping belt of Orchard Road in Singapore needed a total transformation of the lobby and reception. A.RK Interior Design from Singapore was appointed to re-design the space.
Modernising the lobby and reception includes a complete revamp to the layout of this compact 100 sqm space, and a total overhaul to the design to achieve a lobby and reception that is both chic, modern and luxurious without sacrificing on functionality. The client brief was simple – to upgrade and revitalise the existing lobby of this hotel to cater to the needs of their guests. But the challenge lies within the confine of the infrastructure and the small footprint of the lobby.
The task on hand landed with A.RK Interior Design to redesign and update the layout of the lobby and reception. This compact 100 sqm space is to include a lobby, reception, a waiting lounge with a business centre, public toilets and a back-of-house office with luggage storage.
The newly refurbished lobby is both inviting and exudes luxury everywhere you look. Upon entry, the team at A.RK custom-designed a modern glass chandelier and framing up the flooring of the lift lobby with a black and white tangram custom-designed marble floor. The white featured marble across the walls of the lobby gives the impression of an expansive space.
All the check-in and check-out activities are to the right of the lobby. The designers added additional seating around the reception counters, there’s no need to stand and wait for service in this uber comfortable and chic reception.
To craft out a new business centre and waiting lounge, the team at A.RK had to be creative on how they can repurpose existing pockets of space. This new business centre and lounge not only provides comfort and reprieve from their journey but added the much-needed functionality of a business centre.
Soft furnishing is also not overlooked in this refurbishment project. Every piece of furniture and soft furnishing, the design team carefully curate every fabric, colours and shape be it an armchair, a throw cushion or an area rug to deliver the vision of utmost modern luxe and chic.
