design et al are delighted to announce that Palazzo Disegno have been shortlisted for Bathroom Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
The existing house was originally designed for its gun-barrel views of Sydney harbour, Sydney Opera House, and the Harbour Bridge. The client brief was to renovate a tired home into something fit to impress any property connoisseur worldwide. The concept was to be modern with consideration of Feng-Shui and low maintenance due to the owner’s international portfolio. Palazzo Disegno wanted to ensure the design was suitable for not only the young client but for their relatives and global business hosting requirements also.
The shell of the house was to remain, with the internal spaces reversed and extended – master bedrooms moved from the ground level to a new, single level “suite” on the top floor, study and powder rooms were re-configured along with bathroom layouts and interior services relocated. Palazzo Disegno specialize in flipping the client’s thought process when creating an interior; furniture and accessories were selected and custom designed first through luxury Italian Maisons – Fendi Casa, Versace Home, Roberto Cavalli Home and Bentley Home. Artwork and accessories were also pre-selected and famous contemporary local artists commissioned. This allowed the client to understand their end use and function of each individual space.
Within the building, the uniqueness of the design is not only the respect it gives to the outside environment and locational views, but also use of all surfaces. All interior walls are leather wrapped, onyx and brass detailed, marble clad or wallpapered in Armani Casa wall coverings. Details and material junctions were of utmost importance include the 5mm shadow lines in the brass aspects where wall finishes change throughout and the manufacture of the mitred junctions where brass trims inter-lap. Stitched ‘Razza’ leathers and luxurious velvet padded wall coverings from Roberto Cavalli Home flow through the bedrooms, all offset by strategically positioned lighting.
The success of the interior design is in the attention to detail and perfection in all installations and executions. The reason the client chose Palazzo Disegno to execute the design detailing was to ensure all faucets of the interior building, exterior landscaping, furniture, and accessories fused to have a continuity and progressive flow. This included furniture being custom sized to the millimetre with set outs for wall coverings, lighting, and decorations perfectly aligned and symmetrical. The final result: A home and interior encompassing everything a luxury modern lifestyle desires not only in Sydney, Australia but worldwide.
