Poggenpohl has been shortlisted for Kitchen Design Over £50,000 Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2021.
An elegant, modern, and dramatic kitchen featuring Poggenpohl’s Champagne Aluminium and Matt Black finish door fronts, Caesarstone Vanilla Noir worktops and Bora and Gaggenau appliances. The finishes throughout the design match into the gold and black colour scheme which is also repeated throughout the client’s property and accessories.
The client presented a relatively small area to work with for a long awaited highly specified kitchen. As the space was to be used to entertain and cook for their family it was also to feature a large dining table, a pocket door drinks/bar area (also by Poggenpohl) and a sofa and large family television space. It was imperative to the client that the design must seamlessly integrate into the room and compliment the features within whilst also maintaining a level of functionality that allowed them to cook comfortably for their family on a daily basis.
Using influences such as luxury hotel foyers, lobbies, rooms and modern bars, this design needed to be a fully functioning entertaining space that the client could use on a daily basis whether they’re preparing a Sunday roast or hosting a luxurious evening dinner party. The colour scheme was to be kept simple, minimal and elegant with a large bank of tall units at the rear and a kitchen island that the customer envisioned themselves either sat at to have a coffee in the morning or having a conversation over whilst one party prepares a meal.
The kitchen had to be both a warm space in winter when the nights come in quickly and a cool, fresh space in summer when the large sliding garden doors are open and family and friends are around for a barbeque. As space was at a premium, there needed to be several space saving solutions for the usual kitchen accessories and appliances, clutter needed to be kept to a minimum and worktop space left free and clear.
The design of the kitchen area sits amazingly well within the room. Its colour scheme was used not only within the immediate room with matching dining chairs, sofas, television unit, wallpaper, tiled floor, bar area etc but the client also incorporated it throughout the entire house.
