Fully qualified Building Engineer
In Construction Industry for 33 years (since I left school).

Would describe my style as flexible. I look at each development in its own
context, surroundings, neighbourhood, target market etc; and then design and
plan accordingly.
.Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from my initial ‘feel’ when I first visit the site. Also
important to keep up to date with latest trends and innovations.
. In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Design is moving forward in a positive manner. Developers realise that since the
recession, they have to put more effort into their designs and finishes
which is good for the end user.
.Name five key themes to consider when approaching property development in 2014 and beyond.
a) Custom build will become a viable option to having a new home built in the uK
with all the risks associated with property development removed
b) Take advantage of Investor confidence and increase in domestic purchasers
c) Avoid flood risk areas!!
d) Know your area and your target market
e) Sustainable Design
. If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to development projects, what would it be?
You make your money on the way in, not the way out, ie; negotiate the right
price for the purchase of land.
. How important are The International Design and Architecture Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?
Very important and keeps everybody ‘on their toes’. Also for smaller companies,
Property Development can be an insular experience so recognition of ones achievements
can only be a positive thing.
.What projects are you currently working on?
Detached home in a private road in Kingswood, Surrey
Two detached homes in a 0.6 acre plot in Pamber Heath, Hampshire
Two detached homes in a 1 1⁄2 acre plot in Binfield, Berkshire

. What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
In addition to increasing the number of our own developments, promoting Custom Build
as a viable alternative to building your own home in the UK
