Rachel Deeks Design - On the water

Congratulations to Rachel Deeks Design shortlisted for Living Space – Global Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2018

design et al are delighted to announce that Rachel Deeks Design have been shortlisted for Living Space – Global Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.

Rachel Deeks Design have created an airy family home in Canada with sweeping views of a Canadian Lake. The project, named On the Water due to its location, encompasses 5,900 square feet of luxurious finishes. As you enter the home and catch that first glimpse of the blue waters before you, it elicits a calm and tranquil invitation to explore the beautiful setting. The finishes were combined with unique decorative pieces found from all over the world, resulting in a dreamy oasis. The clients requested a space that would be modern and fresh but incorporate some of their collection of art and antiques. The clients specifically requested a more open space than what they were previously used to, allowing the views to dominate. Another requirement of the design was to make the spectacular view part of their living experience both inside and out.

Rachel Deek’s favourite aspect of this design is said to be the open exposed pantry within the kitchen. Using clean lines and a modern look, the pantry is a standout architectural piece within the kitchen space. The crittal style black steel doors on the pantry add to the illusion of an open space whilst still be closed and separate to the rest of the kitchen.

Beautiful marble bathrooms, marble kitchen finishes with a Caeserstone grand island came together with light coloured oiled floors to create a dreamy oasis. Another favourite aspect of the designer’s is the carefully sourced marble slab on the island façade. This can be seen from both the kitchen and the main living space. The fresh look of the kitchen through the use of whites and greys, really complements the marble. Attention to detail is shown through matching the marble design from behind the oven to the façade of the island. The clients finish the end of the day by selecting a vintage from the wine cellar that has been designed by Rachel Deeks, her team and a luxury wine cellar company from Turkey. The design works well due to the views of the lake being maximized whilst creating a beautiful inviting home.
