Congratulations to Luciano Gerbilsky Architects shortlisted for Luxury Residence – Global Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2017

design et al are delighted to announce that Luciano Gerbilsky Architects have been shortlisted for Luxury Residence – Global Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.

Dark stone, mahogany, detailed topography and the surrounding vegetation are combined to make LS House feel like part of its natural surroundings. This project, set in Valle de Bravo, 180 kilometres from Mexico City, is a rustic residential property and at the same time a modern construction of purified lines. This property composed of several volumes, one inside another, with slanted ceilings that meet at a central point. The highest area contains two levels which contain four private bedrooms: three on the ground floor and the master suite above, alongside a semi-covered terrace.
LS House Image 1The interior and exterior living and dining rooms lie directly next to each other, the exterior rooms lead onto a terrace that allows for outdoor synchronicity. The pool and jacuzzi that surround the social area appear to seamlessly transition on to the exterior landscape. The central piece of the composition is the seven-metre high glass with a water mirror that converts into a water fall passing below the main entrance. A library and reading area serve as a bridge between the social and private areas. Here, a staircase with a helicoidal design, floating above the water mirror, leads to the upper level.
LS House Image 2Within a rustic but elegant interior design, fine finishing and a mix of materials that mimic the natural surroundings, appears yet another peculiar detail: an interior tree that serves as company to the serene scene of relaxation. This weekend home is a construction of 800 square meters built on a 3,750-metre lot. The house has a solar system for heating water and central heating, and a photovoltaic system for the generation of electric energy. Water for the hydronic system, bathrooms, pool and jacuzzi is heated by solar panels located on the roof. Rain water is recuperated through natural ponds. In order to reduce the carbon print, all materials selected are found in the surrounding area, taking advantage of the wide variety and quality of local producers and artisans.
LS House Image 3As in all Luciano Gerbilsky Architects projects, the design of each bathroom and kitchen is unique. The main bathroom has an antique piece of furniture, a copper tub, and the walls are coated with a brick-like, antique ceramic. The guest bath is perceived more like a cosy restroom thanks to the chosen furniture and finishing. Each bathroom has a private garden. The LS House design is born with the inspiration given by the land where it has been situated. Built with natural materials locally available and using earth tones that complement the volcanic rock make this project part of the natural setting. The landscaping design not only complements the surroundings, it helps fuse the architectural design into the overall view.
