The Tze Yuet Heen Chinese Restaurant at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Hong Kong Kowloon East was shortlisted today for the Asia-Pacific Design & Architecture Awards 2013 in the Restaurant within a Hotel category. The project was submitted by Hong Kong – based Richards Basmajian Interiors Ltd.

The restaurant plays on traditional Chinese themes of water and its portayal in Chinese art. The river wall morphs into leaping carp while the floors reflect ink paintings of water and fish with birdcage light fittings above.

The design was developed in close collaboration with the operator and developer. Once the theme had been developed, everything fell into place as each element was designed to contribute to the theme.
