design et al are delighted to announce that Ricky Wong Designer Ltd has been shortlisted for Residential £10 Million Plus (Property by Value) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.

The overall space in this property presents a neo-classical style. With a view to echoing the European-style architectural appearance, Ricky Wong Designers added elements of the similar style to the spatial design. The project was designed as a three-generation family’s residence. Through giving the overall space an open layout and taking into consideration the attributes of living in villas, Ricky Wong Designers created a sense of layering and rhythm within the space. The three-floor interior space features clear functional division and separation of the dynamic and the still. With B1 and F1 functioning as dynamic spaces for recreation and F2 serving for resting. An elevator passes through all the floors, which facilitates spatial interaction.

High-quality marbles and jade are widely used in the interior, producing a magnificent yet elegant ambience. The floor of the living room is covered with grey marbles with texture, which endow the space with a natural aesthetic, while the TV background walls of the living room and the master bedroom are clad with natural jade, low-key yet luxury. The kitchen cabinets are from Poggenpohl, a well-known German brand that is popular among worldwide celebrities and a symbol of good taste.

For the wood veneers, Ricky Wong Designer Ltd chose precious Calophyllum as the source material. With good performance in terms of moisture, crack, warping and corrosion resistance, Calophyllum wood is commonly used to produce upscale furniture. The walls of the elevator hall and the recreation room as well as the kitchen counter are covered with imported sintered stone, a new type of material, which is fireproof, heat-resistant, waterproof, recyclable, and free of discolouring for several decades.

The large French windows on three sides of the living room bring in adequate natural light and provide a good view of the outdoor scenery. The light beige dominating the space is supplemented by wood colour and taupe, rendering a sedate and elegant indoor environment. In the dining room, the walls show a perfect match between the wood colour and the lustre of stainless steel, and the high-end imported tactile furniture creates a warm ambience.

The modern design style, and the palette of wood colour and beige, together form a consistent spatial atmosphere. To create luxury and enjoyable living experience, a mini bar was designed in the master suite, with a small refrigerator where wine and skin care products such as facial masks can be stored. In addition, RWD created a relaxing underground recreation area equipped with quality furnishings, which is intended for entertainment, movie watching and exercise. Ricky Wong Designer Ltd utilized environmental protection materials to provide a sense of security for the occupants. The Cathay Courtyard is a luxury residence which required high quality and good taste which was delivered flawlessly by the designers.
