Rosa May Sampaio has been shortlisted for the Living Space – North/South America award in the International Design & Architecture Awards 2015
An important art collector who lives in London was in need of a pied a terre in Sao Paulo. She chose a beautiful apartment with a mesmerizing view overlooking the city.
For its design, the color palette began with the tones of an antique hand made kaftan found in an antique shop in Uruguay. When the marble was removed from the entrance floor, different tones of brown were found in the wooden floor so the choice made was to paint them all black. In the living room a huge cotton and silk carpet- in an unusual green colour- gracefully joins the sofas in crude tones, leaving most of the colors for the art work in display and cushions made of the ancient kaftan.
The furniture is mostly from the 50’s, found in antique shops in Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires. The rest of the furniture is made by contemporary Brazilian designers.
