design et al are delighted to announce that Shalini Misra Ltd have been shortlisted for Cityspace (Apartment/Penthouse) Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
The guiding design principle for this project was pared back elegance. The theme of a mix of periods runs throughout, with furniture from Nilufar combined with mid-century pieces, illuminated by contemporary and vintage lighting. This South Audley Street apartment is located on one of the most fashionable streets in the heart of Mayfair. It stands a stone’s throw from Mount Street Gardens, Hyde Park and the most sought-after restaurants, boutiques, and galleries in London. The apartment is on the first floor of one of the period feature-enriched, terracotta Victorian buildings which gives Mayfair its distinct character.
The space comprises a large high-ceilinged entrance with an elegant monochrome patterned stone flooring; a double reception room, incorporating the formal dining area; a kitchen with dining; utility room; staff bathroom; an extended master bedroom suite with a walk-in wardrobe; study area and a large bathroom. There are three further bedrooms, one of which can be used as a study, and two bathrooms (one en-suite). All rooms have a striking 3-metre-high ceiling. The apartment has been updated to highlight the comforts of modern life with air conditioning and underfloor heating throughout. Bespoke Nero Marquina and Thassos marble flooring, templated to this space, strikingly delineates the entrance with a nod to Art Deco patterns and the work of Gio Ponti. A striking wall light from Lindsey Adelman’s Cherry Bomb Fringe collection adorns the wall. The brushed brass, blown glass and 24k golden foil illuminate the wall, supplemented by lighting from five 1960s ceiling lamps, manufactured by Stilnovo, in opal glass and enamelled metal. The natural bronze and black patina mirror is from the Tracce Collection by Osanna Visconti di Modrone. The specification of every area of this property is of the highest quality, with each element bespoke designed, creating a composition of elegant, refined living in one of the oldest and most beautiful areas of historic London.
