shep&kyles are shortlisted for the Ski Chalet Award in the ID&A Awards 2015.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the successful shortlist for shep&kyles for the Ski Chalet Award in the ID&A Awards 2015. This exclusive, contemporary ski lodge is situated in the traditional Savoyard resort of Morzine. The chalet nestles at the foot of the pistes, with views across the village and up to Avoriaz. The design balances the traditional architectural heritage of the region, with a contemporary twist reflecting the requirements of a modern luxury alpine home.

From the exterior, the chalet is elegantly restrained – sympathetic to its location in an old quarter of the village. We used reclaimed wooden beams with traditional pegged joints, slate roofing (for which Morzine’s mines were famous long before skiing came along), and local stone lower façades; all enhanced by discrete accent lighting on the walls, eaves and feature balconies.

The interior is a perfect blend of old and new. Exposed beams and roof timbers sit seamlessly within the contemporary layout and design. The chalet comprises 6 demi-levels surrounding a generous central stairwell (showcased by a 7-metre tall chandelier). It contains five en-suite bedrooms and two sumptuous open-plan living areas, in addition to the spa, bar & games suite and home-cinema. There are beautifully crafted bespoke details and finishes throughout.
