Following their success with their IXION private jet exterior concept, Technicon Design (France) have also been shortlisted in the Private Aviation Interior Design Concept in this years International Yacht and Aviation Awards.
Design Director: Gareth Davies.
Senior Designer: Nicolas Jousse.
Visualization team: Guillaume Juif, Anne Lefevre, Thomas Digiacomi.
A design concept which seeks to push the envelope in accepted thinking on what a private jet exterior and interior could look like in the immediate future.
“The brief of the project was simple, to challenge current thinking, and propose something a little different but not just a fantasy. It has to be credible and relevant, yet provoke discussion”, said Gareth Davies, Design Director at Technicon’s French Studio near Paris.
“I challenged the team to break out of conventional thinking with regards to a business jet exterior and interior. Whilst defining the concept sketches for the exterior, I asked the rest of the team to start thinking about interior concepts and what we could do differently”.
“We decided on the controversial but interesting idea of removing the windows from the cabin and using existing or very near future flexible screen technology to display the exterior environment on the inside surfaces of the cabin via external cameras”.
The interior user experience is greatly enhanced by directly engaging the passengers with the environment outside, giving an unhindered panoramic view. Also the screens can display limitless possibilities of interior themes and atmospheres. The only constraint is the customers imagination.
They provide an arena for design to showcase its importance in these fields. This is crucial for what can sometimes be a “hidden” endeavour.
