design et al are delighted to announce that Silk Avenue have been shortlisted for Flooring – Carpet/Rug Award in The Product Design Categories within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017
Silk Avenue created ROCHER, a contemporary design with a non-geometric nor repetitive pattern. With a luxury flair, green and gold colour hues were requested for this design. A key and favourite aspect about this design was adapting the initial concept of an animal’s skin and turning it into a luxurious contemporary shagreen based concept.
The client initially requested an animal skin impression, however with review the living space to display ROCHER, needed an additional softness. With the concept of a skin in mind, the designers developed a design based on shagreen. The creative design team and their experienced weavers used the finest and best techniques to create this 5mm pile height, 100% silk hand-knotted rug.
