This is a project that stands the test of time with handcrafted pieces, natural palette, and iconic accents. Denton House Design Studio created a home to allow life to be simple, yet sophisticated at the beach! The clients, a young family from Greenwich, CT, wanted a Bahamas getaway for their busy family. They chose Baker’s Bay Golf and Ocean Club nestled between the Sea of Abaco and the Atlantic Ocean. This exclusive club community draws members from all over the world for its relaxed beach club environment where they can enjoy beach & pool amenities, barefoot golf, countless sports, renowned spa, and fabulous local cuisine.

Given the setting, Denton House Design Studio used as many durable fabrics and materials as possible to allow the homeowners and their guests to feel instantly relaxed in the space. Many of the upholstery fabrics are Perennials brand so they are conducive to indoor-outdoor living. The B&B Italia sofas in the great room are chic and top quality. Each cushion cover is attached by Velcro so they can easily be removed and cleaned which is much needed for any beach home. The designers particularly love the client’s affinity for beautiful organic natural materials like the sculpted wood side and coffee tables we hand selected from BDDW. Using top quality craftsmen and trusted brands was important and the designers kept the materials within an indigenous palette true to the setting. To accessorize the home, Denton House Design Studio drew from the client’s personal artwork and book collection, reframing pieces to work harmoniously in each room.

The designers particularly love the lofty ceilings clad in natural hardwood and they juxtaposed them with simple modern lighting to a add buoyancy to the ambiance. The dining room pendants designed by Seppo Koho, give off an amazing reflection at night – the light peeks through the wooden shade silhouette and appears to dance on the adjacent walls. Other highlights include a custom wallpaper that we designed in the powder room. The inspiration came from the Baker’s Bay Club logo (a friendly buccaneer) on which the designers framed championship flags from the client’s golf tournament wins. Another playful element is the girl’s bunk room, which includes a porthole window, reminiscent of a pirate ship!
