Visionnaire have been shortlisted for Lighting Piece Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.
The Sputnik lamps are the creation of Visionnaire’s unique and innovatively designed lighting family. Made from a number of rhomboidal parts, Visionnaire has produced an “origami” metal composition for the Sputnik lighting pieces.
The design for Sputnik was inspired by retro-futurism. This modular lamp has been made with a large-scale brass mesh which underlines the strong link and connection with the world of Space Age fashion. The name itself is a reference to the famous spacecraft that inaugurated the Space Age. Considering this along with the translation meaning ‘companion’, Sputnik is to be a propitiatory name that reminds us that it is essential to have big dreams and ask important questions. The intricate and innovative design for these pieces pushes the boundaries of what is expected from lighting design, elevating this to the crossover of a collection of art forms.
