Stephens Waring Yacht Design have been shortlisted for the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2014, with their project Rapture entering the Yacht Concept Design up to 30 metre category.
Rapture is a fresh new one-design from the drawing board of well-known American spirit of tradition design house, Stephens Waring Yacht Design. The striking blend of modern and traditional seeks to provide the answer to a gentleman sailor looking for high performance.
“Our combined vision was for raw and unique aesthetics while delivering distinctive and refined performance – much like a high end sports car,” describes Paul Waring of Stephens Waring Yacht Design.
Rapture has a subtle sheerline, daring reverse plumb stem and relatively broad beam with a chine hullform; this edginess produces a lively high-performance yacht that will plane off the breeze and impress with its upwind efficiency.
Rapture hull and deck components will be built with a carbon fibre / e-glass composite, the spars will be carbon fibre, under-deck line controls can be either hydraulic or manual – depending on the owner’s wishes – and finish options include teak decks and varnished wood detailing for the deck furniture and cabin superstructure. The cockpit offers versatility that will provide for a leisurely day sail, an intense afternoon of racing, single handed sailing or a cocktail cruise. The aft helm and compact working area that includes port and starboard control stations makes enjoying the sumptuous and generous seating forward safe and comfortable. Weekender accommodations provide a refuge for a quick doze or to freshen up.
Rapture is a sporty and eye-catching modern classic for an owner who enjoys finishing first on the race course while wowing onlookers at a Concours d’Elégance.
