Chermin Home is a luxury residential home in Bangkok, Thailand designed in a classic Thai-Colonial style. With the vast majority of interior design in residential Bangkok being of American and Western interior architectural style, the classic Thai style encompassed within Chermin Home is considered to be a rare encounter.
It is a style that the architect and interior designer, Piyapak Vatanasrimongkol, holds great concern with as it is a classic luxury style that does not want to be forgotten as time evolves. It is felt that Thai style interior design is one to be cherished and conserved. Therefore, Piyapak Vatanasrimongkol designed Chermin Home with the intent to remind the next generation that Thai style is luxurious and comfortable and should be continued to be embraced whilst we progress further into the millennial world.
It is often believed that the modern western style is an icon of luxury, but here, Studio PLP demonstrate how Thai design wisdom and classic Thai style can be luxurious and classic also. One of the ways in which Thai design wisdom has been applied to Chermin Home is through connecting the vast open space into a comfortable surround by incorporating fine pattern into each handmade piece of wooden furniture throughout the home.
