Congratulations to Taylor Interiors shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million (Project by Value) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2017

design et al are delighted to announce that Taylor Interiors have been shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million (Project by Value) Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.

This project involved the interior design package and fit-out of a private residential apartment in central London, excluding bathrooms and kitchen. The brief given to Taylor Interiors was to create a complete fit-out and furnishing package for the entrance hall, living & dining room, master bedroom, guest bedroom and study, of the existing apartment shell. Taylor Interiors were to devise a tailor-made design concept which acknowledged the personal living rituals of the client whilst also recognising the architectural detailing of the existing structure and the fast-paced location of central London. Brief to include holistic detailing, specification and installation of wall finishes, furniture, window treatments, decorative lighting, bespoke joinery pieces and decorative accessories.Taylor InteriorsWall panelling was to feature extensively to create a masculine and bold atmosphere. The detailing was to come in the form of back-lit stone and brass inlays. Existing classical features of marble flooring and ceiling coffers were to be accentuated by modern design influences and a varied material selection palette. Large feature chandeliers and patterned rugs add a sense of grandeur to an otherwise modern new build apartment. Hues of ash grey, indigo, navy and smoked chestnut are carried through the apartment to establish a wholesome design proposal. Taylor Interiors’ favourite aspect of the project was the Peacock feather wallpaper by Koket which is inset into the bespoke entrance hallway wall panelling, creating a striking feature impression to visitors whilst also enhancing the look & feel of the entire scheme.
Taylor InteriorsThe combination of bespoke wall panelling and high quality wall finishes throughout creates a impressionable narrative running through the whole apartment from the entrance hall to the master suite. The panelling and wallpaper are combined in formal areas   to create a more sophisticated look but are used as stand-alone features in the master and guest bedrooms to soften the look and add a touch of elegance. Before the initial design proposal was created, a site visit was necessary to acknowledge the existing architectural features and surrounding environment of the apartment. The design proposal was built upon this survey, emphasising the modern ‘Mayfair’ look of the surrounding environment and at the same time adding modern flairs to parallel the typical fast-paced business atmosphere that exists in modern-day London.
Taylor InteriorsThe design team produced bespoke high-end designs for select joinery pieces in the apartment. These designs were then handed over to be produced by specialist craftsmen in Portugal and Germany. The finishing veneers, metal details and stone features were all hand-selected by Taylor Interiors in London who co-ordinated the management of the manufacturing process to achieve the highest finishing standards.
