design et al are delighted to announce that The Address Interiors have been shortlisted for Living Space – UK Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
The Address Interiors were commissioned by an English celebrity sportsman to design the interior of his family home ready for them to move into. The design and installation were to include all living areas, bedrooms, kitchen, games room, nursery, walk-in wardrobe and fitted joinery. The Address Interiors worked on the project located in the North of England for twelve months from initial design to completion. The property was stripped to its shell and extended in order to fully achieve the design intent and utilise the space needed for this growing family. As well as making architectural alterations the designers’ role was to create a luxurious interior feel whilst maintaining comfortable surroundings, adding enough entertaining space for guests and extended family. Pops of colour were to be added in key areas using accessories and soft furnishings to create some depth and character to the rooms but keeping to a fairly neutral and timeless palette.
The formal living room was one of the key areas of this project knowing this is where the family would spend most of their time. The Address Interiors therefore spent a lot of time working on variations of textures and finishes to add interest and personality to the formal space. Blending tones of green throughout the room with artwork, cushions, the rug and even the marble fireplace. The Address Interiors’ design team meticulously worked on the layout to incorporate enough seating and storage and created a vast number of bespoke items using some of the leading and reputable suppliers including Colbourns for the bespoke rug, Evitavonni for some bespoke cushions, Heathfield lighting for the ceiling and table lamps, to name a few. The furniture was designed and manufactured by The Address Interiors to fit the space perfectly, using finishes and colours in line with the design direction of the brief and to ensure the vision came to life.
Some original features were to be retained, including the formal living room fireplace, which was restored during the renovation into a stunning marble effect finish with subtle hints of gold leaf throughout, giving it the wow factor as soon as you enter the room. The Address Interiors specified dark herringbone style flooring with a light and neutral wall colour with clever lighting to brighten the space. Intricate craftsmanship was delivered through joinery and other key elements of this project. Bespoke artwork was created especially for the project using the key colours in each room as reference.
One of The Address Interiors’ favourite aspects of the project was adding different tones of green into the neutral palette of this formal room. This was also equally challenging at times, having to balance the mix of an accent colour sympathetically into a space without overpowering the architectural features and other neutral aspects of the room.
