The Stones – Legian Bali, this week made the Asia-Pacific Design & Architecture Awards 2013. The principle behind the concept was to rejuvenate the Kuta area by incorporating the resort lifestyle in its unique location, whilst keeping a hip and up-to-date injection throughout the long site.
The Design is a mix of organic and geometric shapes and volumes, with a touch of traditional Balinese influence. Surface patterns continue from floors to walls across varying textures and materials.
Geometric green walls rise up the massing, continuing the lush tropical landscape within the architecture, juxtaposed with clean architectural massing providing the contemporary-luxe feel of the hotel brand.
Indoor spaces transition through semi-outdoors before the landscaped exterior, with deep private balconies and pavilions as the continuing tropical outlook.
Finishes incorporate a mix of local and imported materials, articulated in a contemporary and luxe way.
