The kitchen is part of a newly constructed, ocean front property designed in a classic plantation/modern architectural style. It includes a connected living space with views to the sea.
The homeowners are both professionals and avid collectors of (mostly Asian) art. They wanted a comfortable style all of their own in this their second and eventual retirement home.
One of the challenges was to create intimacy and comfort in a large, connected kitchen and family room space. A large island was designed for gathering and informal seating.
Custom design elements include a signature refrigerator armoire in natural sucupira wood with crafted toe kick, reeded door details, and custom bronze hardware, a hood and backsplash designed in the same limestone as the flooring material (the hood includes a custom piping bottom edge in polished stainless steel and the backsplash includes a custom eglomise shell design), a custom pot filler sink with faucet valve on drawer face, and an island countertop in brushed granite with bronze end cap detail.
