design et al are delighted to announce that Trenzseater have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Global Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.
Trenzseater were commissioned to complete the full high-end interior design package by their clients for their new architectural build, set upon a prestigious, elevated site on the hills in Christchurch, New Zealand. The architecture was designed to a very high specification by Wilson & Hill Architects. It was our brief to ensure we complemented the architecture with our interior design and did not compete with it.
The Christchurch Project has strong architectural features throughout so the design was intentionally executed with the use of natural stones for use within the flooring, bathrooms and kitchen. Dark chocolate American oak timbers were also used in flooring, additionally within the joinery, doors and furniture. Natural seagrass wallpapers were used from Ralph Lauren with metallic backgrounds to create various effects when viewed in different lights. Flocked velvet and glass beading wallpapers. Ben Lewis and his team used a lot of exquisite silk and fine linen drapery spaces, designing bespoke furniture pieces finished in luxurious velvets, flocked velvets, fine wools and antiqued leather. These elements complemented the timber and high gloss tables which all were then finished with their extensive use of European rigs, mirrors and accessories. The use of beautiful crystal chandeliers in various rooms is prominent, along with accent table and floor lamps.
With all their projects, Trenzseater are said to ensure that they have a sophisticated balance of layers to generate interest, details and timeless elegance. They believe it is the details which offer refinement, personality, balance, character and luxury. The designer’s favourite aspect of this project was collaborating with the client to make the interior layered, textured and unique. The interior was intentionally designed to not be too precious, to be lived in and enjoyed by the client and their family. The use of natural materials and finishes complements the architecture and sits well into the site which overlooks the city and surrounding mountains. The products were made to the designer’s bespoke requirements, tailored to the client’s style. Interior design is Trenzseater’s passion. It is their creative excellence that clients recognise and demand the distinctive, instantly recognisable and quintessential style.
“It was a pleasure working with our clients over the two-year build period, they were exceptionally pleased with the result and have subsequently had us work on their other properties throughout New Zealand.”
