Maison Arabella have been shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million (Project Value) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2020.
A duplex penthouse on the Mediterranean was re-imagined creating a comfortable escape reminiscent of New York style loft living.
Maison Arabella were asked to remodel a penthouse duplex by a style conscious bachelor, whose long-time dream was to have a New York inspired loft pad, a space that reflected his own personality and would allow him to disconnect from his professional life. The interiors apply an accomplished, thoughtful industrial edge to the space, to enhance the existing architecture and lifestyle aspirations of the client.
The entrance hall is impactful and welcoming simultaneously and is an impressive feature of the property with a curved wall and double height ceiling where scale, texture and form all appear in harmony. Maison Arabella designed a custom-made triplex lighting piece together with a bookstand in matte black, commissioned to display a limited-edition Helmut Newton’s book from the client’s collection, which sits proudly against the floor-to-ceiling mirror panelled wall.
A ‘less is more’ approach applies to the living and dining sections, four areas separated by clever partitioning such as the fireplace and tv wall and a custom-made pool-table that converts to ping-pong. The generous dining table, complemented with angular metal framed chairs, allows for perfect entertaining. Whilst the comfortable lounge sofa and sculptural armchairs, positioned to enjoy the extraordinary view, create the paired back feel of the den. The combination of nuanced colours and weathered brick work of the double height wall strikes a balance between masculine restraint and youthful irreverence. An extension to the interior, the yacht-like terraces are designed to withstand coastal weather, to enjoy sunny days and colourful sunsets.
Maison Arabella have created a space that makes the most of the property’s main feature. Like its name, Tradewinds, a triplex complex of towers, follows the shape of a sail and overlooking spectacular uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean. The penthouse bears witness to the most beautiful sunsets and the reason why the client purchased this space. The layout and considered orientation of the furniture in every room of the apartment maximises the views which integrate perfectly with the interiors.
