Vancouver Development / Nahal Gamini have been shortlisted for Bar/Club/Lounge – Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2020.
VV Tapas Lounge, designed by Nahal Gamini and built by Vancouver Development was inspired by nature; the project features artistic handmade detailing, yet is given a modern industrial touch with its neutral palette, accessories and sustainable materials such as cork, tree bark, a live edge bar, and natural stone candle holders.
The brief was to create a comfortable and tranquil space for people to enjoy the artfully prepared food and drinks and have a quality time in the VV Tapas Lounge atmosphere. The ambience is set to feel relaxing, yet fun, through the calming choice of materials and the interesting choice of décor. Nahal Gamini envisioned the signature design of VV to be an eye-catching bar display which is made of illuminated tree branches, incorporated inside the 8’ diameter custom barrel to showcase an extensive collection of wines and liquor. The garden aesthetic, and natural ambience was established by creating a custom green wall which resembles a naturally growing outdoor Ivy wall. The ivy is then accompanied by a combination of plush navy-blue velvet seats and beautiful art to create an inviting space for guests to enjoy.
The stand-out features of the bar are; the vintage music themed feature wall, the artsy bathrooms and the beautiful open concept hallway highlighted by twinkling hanging planters to create a nature-inspired romantic path. Combinations of handcrafted antique doors, hardware, and a motorcycle wine rack were used to balance the warmth of the industrial style. This style was mixed with a variety of simple organic shaped hand-blown smoke glass pendants which was complemented by concrete floors, columns and clean white walls and double-height ceiling to create the modern edge of the design.
VV Tapas Lounge has an authentic nature inspired design concept, juxtaposed with some really industrial design details. The concept of authenticity has also been combined with extensive artistic handmade detailing throughout the space, to create an inviting, comfortable and tranquil space for people to enjoy themselves, and relax.
