The design was inspired by Hainan Airlines tropical headquarters on China’s famous Hainan Island and introduced a welcoming oasis as a juxtaposition to Beijing’s hectic Central Business District. The guest is greeted with the sights, aroma and sounds of tropical rain forest waterfalls, palm trees, and luminous ever changing sky represented by a 5 story LED backlit vaulted glass ceiling.

The glass ceiling arches high over a rainfall water feature and palm trees to immediately remove the patron from Beijing and connect them instead to the natural sounds and smells of Hainan Island. Connecting guests to nature is not the first thing patrons expect from a hotel in the heart of busy Beijing but this is where it is arguably the most important aspect of a foreign patron’s visit to China.
