design et al are delighted to announce that Carlisle Design Studio won the Residential £1-2.5 Million Project by Value Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2016
The brief was to complete a contemporary refurbishment of a five-story, 10,000 square foot Grade-II listed family home to create an impressive and captivating space for the client suitable for entertaining yet also providing them with an environment in which they could feel at home with their dogs.
The addition of a new conservatory extension at the back of the house opened up the lower ground floor into a light and spacious area, continuing the grand scale and character of the original building but providing an area suitable for casual dining and relaxing. A new bespoke wine store was also created next to the large family kitchen.
Using the finest materials and some trusted craftsmen and suppliers, bespoke fitted joinery and furniture pieces were designed to update the aesthetic of the house to one of extreme elegance and luxury; hand finished wall coverings, marble from Italy, sumptuous fabrics and specialist surface finishes were all chosen to work specifically with each room’s palette. No attention was spared in the detailing of features from the etching pattern on the back face of a mirrored joinery panel to the curve of bespoke sequin decorations on a cushion.
The refurbished Study/Library with finely detailed joinery which utilizes the great ceiling height & uses a rich, masculine palette of finishes.
While the house has transformed into a luxury space, the personalized design gives the owners the feeling of being in their own home where they are able to lounge around & pull books off shelves.
