design et al are delighted to announce Zürcher Arquitectos won in the International Hotel & Property Awards 2015. Andaz Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica, will compete for the Hotel 50-200 Rooms Award (Americas & Caribbean) in the fifth annual awards.
Costa Rica is known for its peace-loving attitude, and Zürcher Arquitectos felt tapping into Mother Nature’s energy was the best way to connect the resort design with the overall vibe of the country. Andaz is an innovative experience for living space.
Inspired by pre-Colombian roots, they have created a contemporary lifestyle resort without the cultural influence of the colonial period onward. Seamless integration between indoor and outdoor and the smoothness created by the rooflines. The design encompasses mimicry with the surroundings not only in aesthetics but also on a careful integration with the dramatic topography.
The site is very narrow and elongated which offers every amenity and guest room to enjoy front line views. This gives each space its own privacy and opportunity to perform on a unique way.
Big scale projects are a complex process that requires a lot of patience. There are many people involved with great and different ideas but it all comes down to sharp decisions for things to happen.
